“Krasny Kotelshchik” Involved in Large Investment Project

The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) participates in a large-scale investment project “Bolshoi Ust-Ilimsk” being executed by Ilim Group. Scope of supply of the Taganrog Works covers two Tubular Air Pre-Heaters (TAPH) in-house manufactured according to design and under order of Valmet being the main supplier of two bubbling fluidized-bed boiler units.

“Bolshoi Ust-Ilimsk” comprehensive investment project was launched on the 21st of June 2018. At the site of the operating combined works in Irkutsk Region built in the mid 80-ties, new pulp and paper works will be constructed. The second line of the large investment project is modernization of the existing production. In this regard “Krasny Kotelshchik” acts as the boiler equipment supplier: the company manufactures the Tubular Air Pre-Heaters which will form a part of two fluidized-bed boilers.

The first TAPH for Boiler Unit No. 5 has already been supplied to the site. Supply of the second TAPH for Boiler Unit No. 4 is planned for the first quarter 2021. Similar to the first TAPH the second one will be shipped fr om the production site in parts. Supply package variability which allows transporting the oversized equipment foreseen in Valmet basic design, was suggested by TKZ specialists.

Owing to this project the Ilim Group will increase the production output of cardboard and other packing materials by 600 thousand tons. This will allow expanding the presence in the packing material segment first of all in the growing Asian markets. In the result of implementation of the investment project in Ust-Ilimsk the company will become one of the largest world manufactures of brown packing materials with a total output volume of 1.5 mln. tons of cardboard per year, at that the total marketable output of Ilim Group will in total exceed 4.4 mln. tons per year.

For “Krasny Kotelshchik” this is a further opportunity to strengthen its position in the pulp and paper industry market of Russia wh ere new facilities are actively constructed and the existing ones – modernized. Earlier TKZ participated in the construction of the bark boiler within the framework of the CHPP modernization project for Mondi Syktyvkar LPK (wood-processing combined works) being the largest paper manufacturer in Russia. For this plant TKZ also supplied the Tubular Air Pre-Heater under Valmet order.
